Krirk University was first opened at Building K, Ratchadamnoen in 1952 by Professor Dr. Krirk Mangkhalapruek (1915-1978). The purpose of establishing the university in the early period was to teach English only because he was a person with special abilities in English, both in teaching and working experience. He was considered the first Thai person to introduce modern English teaching, which aimed to give students knowledge of grammar and to be able to use English effectively. As for the name of the institute, as permitted by the government at that time, it was “Language and Vocational School”, but people knew the name of his school as Professor Krirk School all along.
